Being a school governor is a voluntary role and a hugely rewarding one. It is a chance to develop your skills and to give something back to your local community.  As a governor you will be able to use your own experience of education and life beyond school to inform conversations, and support and challenge the school so that it improves for children, staff and families.

As governors of Hungerford Nursery School and Family Centre we provide strategic leadership to ensure the school delivers good quality education and high standards of achievement. We act as a critical friend by challenging and supporting the Head Teacher in a positive way, and provide strategic direction for the school by reviewing policies, targets and priorities as well as overseeing and agreeing budgets.

We have a Full Board of Governors meeting each term. Our Governing Board also has a Finance Committee. This committee will meet separately from the main Governing Board to discuss relevant issues in more detail. Discussion is then fed back at a full Governing Board meeting.

Governors very much value the partnership that our Centre has with parents and our local community. We therefore, aim to get regular feedback from parents to keep us well informed of their views.
