By September 2025, all education settings need to have a climate action plan in place.

- Embed nature and sustainability themes into daily play and routines.
- Use stories, songs, and activities that explore weather, seasons, animals, and plants.
- Encourage outdoor learning and curiosity about the environment.
- Create small gardens/planter boxes where herbs, flowers or vegetables can be grown.
- Teach simple gardening and composting activities – food scraps.

Save Energy and Water

- Explore energy efficient LED lighting.
- Ensure lights are turned off when not in use.
- Teach children to turn taps off when they have finished.
- Explore options for water butts to be installed.
- Explore options for smart meters to be fitted.
- Long term plan for reduction or removal of gas usage in nursery.

Reduce waste and promote recycling
|
- Speak to waste company about the different bins we have available to us.
- Set up clearly labelled recycling bins in classrooms and offices.
- Ensure that cleaner is onboard with any changes.
- Encourage litter free lunches by asking families to use reusable containers and bags.
- Encourage reuse and repair (e.g. toy/tool swap days with families).
- Composters to be used for food waster.

Engage families and the community in our sustainability journey.

- Share eco -tips and updates in newsletters.
- Invite parents to take part in eco -projects (e.g. planting, litter picking, upcycling).
- Actively encourage car sharing, walking to school etc..
