Our Classes

We have four classes at Hungerford Nursery School: Turtles, Starfish, Jellyfish and Dolphins.  Each class has been designed to meet the needs and the stages of the children who attend.  Every class has well-planned learning areas that allow the children to develop independence in their explorations and learning.   Qualified teachers work across the classes to plan a rich, broad and exciting curriculum in partnership with skilled, experienced Early Years Practitioners.  Learning is delivered through a balanced daily mixture of child-led self-selected activities, adult-led small group times and whole class short learning sessions.  Well-planned activities inspire and delight children, with a range of experiences to develop their foundations for learning, life skills and their understanding of the world around them.

Turtles and Starfish

Turtles and Starfish classes are for our 2-3year olds.  They have separate classrooms and outdoor areas but they are very much one cohort which is overseen by one of our teachers Mrs Hannah Harper.  She supports the teams in both classes and oversees the planning and provision to ensure consistency.  She splits her time between both rooms so the children (and parents) in both classes will get to know her.  At times the classes will come together so all children will have opportunities to spend time in both areas.

Jellyfish and Dolphins

Jellyfish and Dolphin classes are our pre-school classes for our 3-4 year olds.  They have separate group rooms where they gather as classes at various points in the day for activities such as welcome circle, adult-directed teaching and end of day routine etc.  Both classes share the rest of the space available to them which includes a large indoor room, covered outside space and extensive outdoor space.  Each class is lead by a qualified teacher who work closely together to plan for the provision and teaching to ensure consistency across both classes.
